Restrictions are beginning to be lifted, and more shops/galleries are re-opening. We are still following our safety measures, and also still only posting out once per week, usually on a Wednesday. However, we can still change the day to accommodate specific requirements.
More than ever, we really appreciate customers shopping through small businesses as birthdays and anniversaries arise throughout the year, or as customers decide they deserve a personal treat!!
GIFT VOUCHERS : An excellent alternative to gifting a specific item of jewellery are our Gift Vouchers. Simply drop us an email at email@example.com, letting us know how much you would like to spend, details of who you'd like to receive the voucher, their address and date required, and any message you'd like adding. Payment can then be taken either through PayPal or BACS and we'll do the rest.
COMMISSIONS: If you have a specific idea in mind for a bespoke piece of jewellery, please do not hesitate to drop us an email. We are happy to discuss ideas and provide a no-obligation quote, and will always be honest if it is not something we are able to create, or something which doesn't sit well with our style of jewellery. In that instance we will always try to direct customers to an alternative designer.
Our local wildlife continues to delight and surprise us. The buzzard was out hunting in the field this morning. The swallows are shouting at us when we pass the outbuilding they've chosen as their nest site.
We have 4 baby blackbirds who are adorable, and many other babies we love to watch 'fluffing' their wings begging for food.
The roe deer were roistering in the field the other evening which was lovely to see. Plenty of inspiration!!
Snuggled amongst the West Yorkshire Pennine landscape, our home and surroundings provide the perfect inspiration for Ruth Makes Jewellery. My partner, Jez Coates, and I, Ruth Sutcliffe, create unique handmade silver jewellery to reflect the love we have for our local landscape, wildlife and our own pets. Natural shape, form and drama appear in my landscape, woodland and hedgerow pieces. Jez has expanded his mythical creatures and norse themes.
All our jewellery is hand sawn from sterling silver sheet, or individually hand cast using our own recycled silver, with contrasting elements of copper and brass making the occasional appearance. This ensures the individuality of each piece of jewellery. The fascination of watching the oxidisation process during soldering never diminishes, and creates beautiful atmospheric finishes.
Because each piece is a unique creation, we can take orders for a specific size of ring, or different size bangle, for example, so please do not hesitate to get in touch if you require a different size to that listed.
Where required, our work is hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office using our own Ruth Makes Jewellery RS and JC laser marks.
Our jewellery is presented in matte black gift boxes made from recycled materials. The boxes are not marked so customers can re-use them to continue the recycling process. The boxes come within a black cotton drawstring bag, which includes an aftercare card.
We hope you enjoy browsing through our handmade jewellery. We love providing a truly personal experience and meeting our customers during the year's events, so thank you! (See 'Stockists and Events')
